President Donald J. Trump has signed a proclamation to reibstate a travel ban. The ban fully restricting entry from 12 countries and partially limits entry from seven others.
The ban will be effective at 12:01 AM EDT, June 9, 2025. The move revives a controversial policy from his first term, citing national security, inadequate vetting, and high visa overstay rates as justifications.

The proclamation follows Executive Order 14161, signed January 20, 2025, directing agencies to identify high-risk countries based on deficient screening and security threats.
The following 12 countries are subject to a complete suspension of entry for both immigrants and non-immigrants:
• Afghanistan
• Myanmar (Burma)
• Chad
• Republic of the Congo
• Equatorial Guinea
• Eritrea
• Haiti
• Iran
• Libya
• Somalia
• Sudan
• Yemen
Aside the countries lister above, seven other countries face partial restrictions, affecting immigrant visas and specific non-immigrant visas:
• Burundi
• Cuba
• Laos
• Sierra Leone
• Togo
• Turkmenistan
• Venezuela
