Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticized the recent statements made by the US regarding the Ukraine conflict, saying that the US was trying to “please” Moscow in seeking resolutions to the war.
In an interview broadcast on Monday, February 17, Zelensky expressed his response to the US officials who spoke of excessive benevolence with Putin.

“The US is now saying things that are very favourable to Putin… because they want to please him,” Zelensky stated, referring to efforts by the US to secure a quick resolution to the conflict.
Zelensky rejected the idea that a ceasefire could be interpreted as victory, arguing that Ukraine would not be ready to settle for any such solutions just to end the combat.

“What they want — ‘just a ceasefire’ — is not a win,” he said, stressing the importance of securing Ukraine’s territorial integrity. He also rejected the idea of ceding any territory that Russia has seized, asserting, “We will reclaim it all.”

In an interview during the Munich Security Conference, he shared his worries about Europe and military power, stating that the continent would stand naked before the threats it would have to face should the United States withdraw its security support.

While he claimed he would put his country first and be prepared to do anything for its future, including stepping down if that meant that Ukraine would gain membership in the EU and NATO with security guarantees, Zelensky insinuated peace could demand surrender.
“If tomorrow Ukraine were accepted into the EU and NATO, if Russian troops were to withdraw and we got security guarantees, I wouldn’t be needed anymore,” he added.
