This plane we gathered is currently located in the Dominican Republic.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio who has been quite busy is set to announce this seizure on Thursday while visiting Santo Domingo.
This stop is the last one on his five-nation tour of Central America, as noted by a U.S. official who is familiar with the situation and a State Department document that was obtained by The Associated Press.

To carry out the seizure, Rubio had to sign off on a foreign aid freeze waiver request, which meant they needed to pay over $230,000 in storage and maintenance fees.
This step was necessary and it also needed approval from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The waiver request, which was submitted early last week, has been approved.
Rubio is expected to make the announcement at what the State Department has described as only a “law enforcement engagement.”

However, this is significant news because the plane’s seizure comes just a week after President Donald Trump’s envoy for special missions, Richard Grenell, visited Caracas.
He met with Maduro to discuss the repatriation of Venezuelan nationals who had illegally entered the United States.
