The handover event occurred at the 153 Armoured Regiment, Abuga Square in Burma Camp.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Palmer emphasized the critical need to secure Ghana’s northern border, particularly in light of the jihadist insurgency in neighboring Burkina Faso, which has displaced over two million people and claimed tens of thousands of lives over the past decade, according to a 2025 BBC report.
