According to University of Michigan research ultra-processed foods like Coke and hot dogs can shorten life expectancy.
One of the most popular drinks in the world Coke is frequently mistakenly drunk in large quantities.
But a recent study might make you reconsider your next can purchase.
As per the study eating certain highly processed foods may shorten your life.
For instance, consuming a hot dog could waste 36 minutes and drinking a Coke to wash it down could waste an additional 12 minutes.

Comfort foods like pizza macaroni and cheese hot dogs and Coke were found to reduce life expectancy but the study also found that eating healthier foods like some kinds of fish could actually increase life expectancy.
Dr. Olivier Jolliet, the lead of the study, emphasised the importance of dietary changes for better health.
He said, “The urgency of dietary changes to improve human health is clear. Our findings demonstrate that small, targeted substitutions offer a feasible and powerful strategy to achieve significant health and environmental benefits without requiring dramatic dietary shifts.”
