Ukraine and Russia begins first stage of exchanging prisoners

Ukraine and Russia are heading towards a ceacefire agreement by completing the first stage of prisoner exchange.

This development comes following agreements reached during talks in Istanbul earlier this month.

It was reported that This exchange involved the release of soldiers under the age of 25, with further stages planned to include wounded and severely injured prisoners.

Earlier today, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that a group of Russian servicemen under 25 was returned from Ukrainian captivity.

President Zelensky also announced similar move with number of Ukrainian soldiers transferred from Russia’s captivity back to Kyiv.

The Russian prisoners were taken to Belarus for medical and psychological assistance before returning home.

Ukrainian  President Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasized the return of defenders, including those captured in the early days of Russia’s 2022 invasion.

The exchange was part of a broader agreement to swap seriously ill, wounded, and young soldiers.
