Turkey’s message to  Burkina Faso and Ibrahim Traore is clear

Turkey and Burkina Faso have strengthened their relationship, marking a great moment for the West African side, which now has Turkey’s full backing.

Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, granted an audience on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Ouagadougou to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Dr. Burhanettin Duran.

The strengthening of bilateral cooperation has been the central point of exchanges between the two personalities.

The Head of Government praised the dynamism of cooperation between the two countries and reiterated to his HOST his willingness to work on strengthening ties of friendship that are resolutely rooted through the diversification of sectors of interest.

Indeed, in addition to the strategic partnership in terms of security, Turkish companies are showing an increasing interest in Burkina Faso’s economic sector.

“During this meeting, we agreed on the need to further develop the strategic relationship between Burkina Faso and the Republic of Türkiye. Our strategic cooperation should not be limited to the defense industry.

“It must also develop in other areas such as agriculture, culture, industrialization and education,” Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Dr Burhanettin Duran said at the end of the hearing.

In this dynamic, Dr. Burhanettin Duran has announced a trade forum in Istanbul next October; forum to which the Burkinabe Ministry of Commerce is invited.
