An order that prohibits federal funding for colleges and universities that mandate students receive the COVID-19 vaccine will be signed by President Trump on Friday.
The executive order was first reported by Breitbart News approximately five years after the new coronavirus entered the United States killing over a million Americans and causing significant disruptions in the social educational and economic spheres.

Under Trump’s first-term Operation Warp Speed highly effective vaccines were created in late 2020 however Republicans have generally opposed vaccination requirements for federal employees as well as for state and local governments.
Over time newer strains of the virus have become less deadly and vaccines have become less effective at preventing the spread of COVID-19.

The National Academy for State Public Health reports that twenty-one states currently prohibit mandating coronavirus vaccines in schools including Democratic-led states like Arizona and Michigan and Republican strongholds like Florida and Texas.

If state and local officials don’t comply it’s unclear exactly how much money could be recovered.
Long a tool for Washington to get involved in education which is primarily governed locally is federal funding for schools.
