They aim to achieve this by offering a $1,000 stipend for immigrants who self-deport using the CBP Home app.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), led by Secretary Kristi Noem, stated that individuals must return to their home country after registering their departure through the app to receive the payment.
“This is the safest option for our law enforcement, aliens, and is a 70% savings for U.S. taxpayers,” Noem wrote in a DHS release.

The policy builds on the administration’s continued push for self-deportation, which includes a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign and the rebranding of the CBP One app—now referred to as CBP Home—originally utilized under the Biden administration for asylum processing.
According to DHS report, over 5,000 immigrants have already used the app to self-deport since March 2025.
The new policy comes with threats of significant fines, including $998 per day for those who do not comply with final deportation orders and potential property seizures.
