“Then Brits Should Learn African local languages before coming to Africa” – Africans react to UK’s new immigration rules

In an awakening uproar, Africans have criticized the enforced immigration policies made by foreign countries, especially the UK and the US.

According to them, if they are limiting them from entering through the English proficiency tests, then they should also learn an African dialect before they visit any country in the continent.

The uproar follows UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s announcement of strict new immigration policies, which include tougher English language requirements and extending the time for permanent settlement from five to ten years.

The reforms, unveiled in an 82-page white paper on May 12, have sparked accusations of hypocrisy and colonial overtones, particularly from African communities, who see the measures as disproportionately targeting them.

The announcement during a Downing Street press conference comes as Starmer’s Labour Party faces pressure from the rising right-wing Reform Party, amid growing dissatisfaction with Labour’s governance.
