Video of the last moments Dr. Omane Boamah shared with his people before the tragedy

On Wednesday, August 6, Ghana was hit by sad news that shook the country. A plane crash took the lives of 8 individuals, two of whom were sitting ministers.

On the morning before the tragic incident, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah arrived at the Accra Airforce Base at 8am dressed in all white as he joined other dignitaries for the journey.

He shook hands with the crew as he entered the plane. Dr Boamah sat on the aisle of the helicopter and waved those on the ground as the chopper took off.

Sadly and unbeknownst to him, that wave and goodbye was the last he would say to his friends, family, country, and the world.

The helicopter, Z9, lost radar contact about 30 minutes after its takeoff from Accra to Obuasi, carrying the people aboard to the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (RCOMSDEP) when it unfortunately crashed at Adansi-Brofoyedu in the Adansi Akrofuom District, killing all aboard.

Other victims involved in the accident were Minister of Environment, Science and Technology Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, National Vice-Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Samuel Sarpong, parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, pilot Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, co-pilot Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and crew member Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah.

As investigations continue, government has been able to secure the choppers black box which contains vital information to aid investigation.
