Two young women were arrested after they uploaded a video of themselves dancing on an Iranian war memorial.
In a video that went viral on Instagram, the two girls who seem to be teenagers are seen dancing at the Monument to the Unknown Martyrs of the Sacred Defence war memorial in Tehran.

The monument honours those who lost their lives in the 1980–1982 Iran–Iraq War and was constructed by Italian architect Marcello DOlivo.
Iran International reports that Iranian officials have deemed the girl’s attire to be inappropriate and have blocked both of their Instagram accounts

Since Iran’s Islamic Revolution in 1979 when the country’s secular monarchy was overthrown and theocratic rule began under the cleric Ayatollah Khomeini who passed away in 1989 dancing in public has been prohibited.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who has been Irans Supreme Leader for 35 years succeeded him after his death in 1989.
It is unclear what the two girls will be punished for but according to Article 637 of the Iranian Penal Code dancing in public whether by a woman or a man is a crime against public modesty and carries a 99-lash maximum length.
