Rwanda is engaging in preliminary discussions with the United States to accept migrants deported under the Trump administration.
Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe confirmed they are in talks, which remain in their early stages.

This deal follows the cancellation of a similar $310 million deal with the United Kingdom in June 2024 by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Rwanda had a prior agreement with the UK, which was intended to relocate asylum seekers to the East African nation but was scrapped amid legal challenges and political shifts in Britain.
Nduhungirehe, speaking to Rwandan state TV, emphasized his country’s willingness to offer migrants “another chance,” citing Rwanda’s experience with similar arrangements.
However, he stressed that no final agreement has been reached with the U.S.
