Russia has handed over two geological atlases and technical reports to Sudan’s Ministry of Minerals on May 22, 2025.
The development came during the Kazan Economic Forum, aiming to replace data lost in Sudan’s civil war.

These atlases map mineral resources like gold and chromium, potentially aiding Sudan’s economic recovery by boosting its mining sector.
Details of this bilateral extension between Russia and Sudan could create jobs and revenue, reducing reliance on foreign aid.
Interestingly, some citizens in Sudan aren’t happy with the move as see it as a strategic on Russia’s part to access Sudan’s resources and expand geopolitical influence, possibly tied to a naval base deal.
Many also argued that Russia has good intentions for the African continent unlike some other European countries and Americans that are believed to be operating based on their selfish interest.
