As part of his campaign promise in getting Ghanaians to vote for him, President John Dramani Mahama has kept to his word by abolishing certain taxes he promised to get rid of.
President John Dramani Mahama has fulfilled a key campaign promise by signing into law a set of amended bills that abolish the Betting Tax, E-Levy Tax, and Emissions Tax, among others.
On April 2, the president signed a bill to abolish E-Levy among other taxes as he had initially promised in his campaign message.
The abolished taxes were previously criticized by business groups like the Ghana Union of Traders Association for causing double taxation and failing to meet revenue targets, with the E-Levy missing its 2023 goal by over 50%.
