Police officer demoted from rank of Inspector to Sergeant after absenting himself from duty

It’s always nice to see justice served to those who enforce the law on civilians. Most of the time it is never so as they take the law into their own hands and do as they like.

A Nigerian police officer has been demoted from the rank of an Inspector to a Sergeant for allegedly absenting himself from duty without reason.

Inspector Moshebun Segun went on a 17-day absence without permission or reason. This has led to his rank reduction from Inspector to Sergeant, a decision enforced by Supol Ikare of Zone 17, Akure, who warned of dismissal for any repeat offense.

The demotion of Inspector Moshebun Segun in Ondo State reflects a broader crackdown by the Nigeria Police Force, which recently dismissed 19 officers and demoted 24 others for offenses like murder and extortion.
