Over 6,000 prisoners escape from a maximum security prison in Mozambique

Our news desk has gathered that over 6, 000 prisoners have escaped from prison in Mozambique.

According to popular blogger, Wode Maya in a post on his Facebook page, Wode Maya disclosed that the incident happened in Maputo.

Wode Maya reports that over 6,000 prisoners broke the prison gates and fled from the maximum security prison in Maputo.

He adds that the prisoners overpowered the prison guards and seized their AK-47 rifles.

He shared a video showing the moments prisoners numbers thousands of them were heading out of the maximum prison.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of citizens in Maputo considering the fact that the prisoners who were jailed for diverse crimes are now in possession of lethal weapons.

Reacting to this in the comment section, one Tsiko Osita Dimma wrote;

“Mozambique already a failed country since last week. Soldiers were seen aiding looters and policemen were overwhelmed in the streets. It’s just a matter of time before the prisons would collapse. Who would have fed the prisoners.”
