MP calls for Ablakwa’s resignation over Vice President’s use of private jet

Member of Parliament for Akin Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah has called for the resignation of colleague MP, Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Okudzeto Ablakwa, who now holds the position as the Minister of Foreign Affairs is currently facing pressure to honor an alleged promise he made during his time in opposition.

It has been alleged that Okudzeto Ablakwa vowed to resign from any position he holds should any NDC executive use a private jet during in administration.

His promises was related to Concerns if citizens during the NPP administration where president Akufo Addo is known to have abandoned the presidentual jet to rent a private jet for his trip abroad.

Recently, Vice president Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang used a private jet for her return journey to Ghana from the United Kingdom.

She returned from a two-month medical leave in the UK on May 22, 2025, aboard a chartered Vistajet flight, reportedly costing over $170,000.
