Disturbing footage captured the moment Mississippi Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann fell suddenly to the floor of the Senate on Wednesday morning.

The dramatic moment, recorded on a livestream of the legislative proceedings, saw the 77-year-old Republican standing up at the Senateoud podium as he slumped slowly over into the microphone and fell sideways onto the floor.

Hosemann’s colleagues gasped and called his name as a few rushed to his aid and called for emergency services; the video showed.
The probe for the Senate was immediately recesses while he received medical attention.

“Thank you all for the kind words and prayers,” Hosemann, who was re-elected to a second term in November 2023, posted to X Wednesday night.
“I was dehydrated and am feeling fine now. I am grateful for Mississippi’s phenomenal medical professionals and am ready to go back to work tomorrow. Lesson learned: Stay hydrated.”

The live feed from Mississippi Senate has since been deleted-the clip of the fall went up later with social media spectators asking about the quality of his health.
