Meet Ehsan Abdulaziz, the Saudi billionaire who was not found guilty of raping a teenager after he claimed he slipped and penetrated his victim

In 2015, a legal case involving Saudi millionaire Ehsan Abdulaziz was declared free in a rape case. Ehsan was cleared of raping an 18-year-old in London after claiming he “accidentally tripped and penetrated” the teenager.

The incident occurred in August 2014 at Abdulaziz’s flat in Maida Vale, London, following a night out at the upscale Cirque le Soir nightclub in the West End.

Abdulaziz, then a 46-year-old property developer, had invited the teenager and her 24-year-old friend to his private table at the club before offering them a place to stay at his residence.

According to court documents, the teenager fell asleep on a sofa after consuming alcohol. She later awoke to find Abdulaziz assaulting her, claiming he forcibly penetrated her while she was unconscious.

During the trial at Southwark Crown Court in December 2015, Abdulaziz’s defense argued that the incident was accidental.

He claimed he tripped and fell onto the teenager, inadvertently penetrating her, and suggested that semen found on his hands—later confirmed by DNA evidence—may have been from prior consensual activity with the 24-year-old woman earlier that night.

After just 30 minutes of deliberation, the jury acquitted Abdulaziz, accepting his explanation despite the prosecution’s arguments and the victim’s testimony.
