Mali President, Assimi Goita reveal deep relationship with Burkina Faso and Niger

The president of Mali, Assimi Goita has revealed the current relationship that exists between his country, Burkina Faso and Niger.

According to the Malian leader, the three countries now consider themselves as one and will continue to operate as such.

Currently, there is nothing like a border separating the three countries which means they all have freedom of movement Among each other.

The three countries are currently led by military juntas and seems to have one solid aim to develop their respective countries.

So far, the trio opted out of ECOWAS to form their own consideration known as AES.

The Alliance of Sahel States (AES) is a was established on September 16, 2023, through the signing of the Liptako-Gourma Charter.

Led by military leaders, the confederation was formalized in July 2024 during a summit in Niamey, Niger.

The AES emerged as a mutual defense pact following the 2023 Nigerien crisis, where the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) threatened military intervention after a coup in Niger.
