“I’m officially a member of the NDC party” – Actor Michael Blankson states after Mahama directs Minister of Finance to settle DDEP debts

Ghanaian-American comedian and actor Michael Blankson has declared his support for NDC and President John Dramani Mahama in a recent tweet. In the tweet, he declared he is “officially a member of the NDC.”

Michael proclamation comes after the president directed the Minister of Finance to settle all Domestic Debt Echange Program (DDEP) coupons of which Michael had invested in.

In his recent interview, Blankson told a reporter that he was asked to pay a 10% bribe in order to receive his $1.2 million he had invested in the DDEP.

Under the Akuffo Addo led administration, Michael invested $1.2 million in Ghana’s Domestic Debt Exchange Program which he later revealed he did so to run his school in his hometown which he operated for free.

However, when maturity time was due, the actor was told his investment has been trapped in the program. According to the then ministry of finance, his money was use to settle Covid 19 and Chinese debt. He also made claims that he was allegedly told to pay a 10% bribe before the funds will be released to him.

After John Mahama’s directive for the funds to be settled, Blankson has declared his support for the party and also says the move made by the president has put a smile on his face.
