Marriage is frequently romanticized as a union founded on love, trust and commitment; however, what transpires when extreme circumstances challenge these pillars?
Relationship coach Daniel Kelly initiated a stimulating dialogue on The Toast show on GHOne, where he asserted that love within marriage must not be contingent.
His contention which is quite compelling is that even if a spouse strikes their in-law, the immediate response should be to comprehend the underlying reasons, rather than hastily severing the marital bond.
He underscored that, instead of resorting to drastic actions, couples ought to endeavor to grasp the fundamental causes of their disputes.

“When I say ‘I love you,’ I mean that the things I see, the things I’m going to discover, I’m sticking with you to make it work,” Kelly stated.
The media personality hosting the discussion, surprised by his stance, interjected: “So I should divorce you because you slapped my mother?”
Kelly doubled down on his perspective: “If I slap your mother, are you leaving me? When it comes to marriage, why should everything be so conditional?”

He elucidated that, in the context of marriage, prioritizing conflict resolution is essential.
“If my wife slaps my mother, I am going to ask why. I’ll find out what led to it because simply sending her out doesn’t mean the next wife won’t do the same or worse.”

The discussion took an interesting turn when the host posed another question: “What if your mother slaps your wife? What should you do?”
Kelly responded firmly: “Then what, should I send my mother away? Your mother will go to your husband’s house, no? There’s a thing called conflict resolution.”
“You don’t just kick your wife out. If you don’t address the issue, what guarantees that the next wife won’t do worse, maybe even kill your mother?”
