Ibrahim Traore release over 104 billion CFA for food sovereignty

Burkina Faso president, Captain Ibrahim Traore has made a significant step in driving developments towards the agricultural sector.

On May 22, 2025, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, distributed agricultural equipment and inputs.

The inputs according to details available to us is valued at over 104 billion FCFA which approximately $180 million United States Doallars.

It was a distribution made to farmers in Bobo-Dioulasso as part of the 2025-2026 agropastoral campaign.

This initiative, under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Resources, and Fisheries led by Commander Ismaël Sombié, aims to enhance agricultural productivity and achieve food self-sufficiency.

The allocation includes 15,000 tons of seeds, 70,000 tons of mineral fertilizers, 14,631 tons of organic manure, and various equipment like tractors and motor pumps.

This follows a previous distribution in 2024 worth over 78 billion FCFA, reflecting a significant increase in investment to reduce food deficits and promote rural development.

Traoré emphasized mechanization and youth involvement in agriculture to ensure sustainable food sovereignty.
