On the afternoon of April 10, 2025, tragedy struck over the Hudson River in Manhattan, New York, as a Bell 206 helicopter crashed near Pier 40, close to the West Side Highway and Spring Street.
The incident occurred shortly after the aircraft took off from the Downtown Manhattan Heliport at 2:59 p.m.

According to eyewitnesses, a harrowing scene, with some loud noises resembling gunshots was heard just before the helicopter plummeted into the river.
All 6 people onboard the helicopter that crashed in the Hudson river are dead, according to the AP. A family from Spain; 2 adults, 3 kids, and the pilot.
