Crystal Palace defender facing charge for writing ‘l Love Jesus’ on his rainbow armband

Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi may face an English Football Association (FA) charges for writing on his arm band.

The defender wrote “I love Jesus” on his rainbow-coloured captain’s armband which the FA deempef as an offfor Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle United.

Premier captains were asked to wear the multicoloured armband this weekend as part of the Rainbow Laces campaign, an initiative which aims to show support for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport.

However, Ipswich Town’s Sam Morsy, a practicing Muslim, chose not to wear the armband for religious reasons.

Guehi decided to wear it with a penned statement about his love for Jesus written on the fabric.
