In China, a company has taken the step to ensure the emotional and psychological well being of its workers by allowing them to go on leave whenever they feel unhappy.

The unhappy leave will allow workers to stay off work whenever they feel unhappy. Workers do not have to show up at work as they are “emotionally unwell.”
Yu Donglai, the visionary behind the Chinese retail chain Pang Dong Lai, introduced this unique policy that lets employees take up to 10 days of “unhappy leave” annually whenever they’re feeling emotionally off-kilter.

This leave, which managers can’t refuse, is part of a broader effort to promote work-life harmony and bolster mental health. On top of that, the company offers a refreshing seven-hour workday, weekends free from work, and a generous 30 to 40 days of annual leave, including a break for the Lunar New Year.
