Todd Boehly the American owner of Chelsea is defending himself against claims that he engaged in fraudulent behavior and crass profiteering when he acquired the Golden Globes in 2023.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) which once hosted the renowned film and television awards made the claim which Dailymail reports was rejected as a character assassination by a source close to the American billionaire.
A source close to the American billionaire has called the claim a character assassination.
It was made by former members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) which used to host the renowned film and TV awards according to Dailymail.
Boehly was accused by the anonymous group of unfairly taking over the Globes in 2023 after the awards were boycotted by publicists and celebrities due to years of scandal and the disclosure that the HFPA had no black voting members.

In an effort to get California’s Attorney General to look into the takeover a legal letter was sent to Boehly who headed the consortium that purchased Chelsea FC from Roman Abramovich in 2022 for £425 billion.
The letter followed allegations made by Hollywood news website Puck that Boehly had managed a system of crass profiteering at his new organization in charge of the Globes including accusations that he had wh* out the Globes brand for grubby events in the Middle East.
Puck further emphasized allegations that the HFPA never charged thousands of dollars to post movies and TV series on its screening platform and that other fees including ticket prices have gone up.
The Attorney General’s office told Puck earlier this month that it was ‘currently reviewing the final request for a waiver of objection ‘to hold up the final dissolution of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’.
