Fresh reports from the Sahel Stars indicates that Chad has formally applied for membership to join the AES.
Currently, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), which includes Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.

Credible sources reported in posts on X on May 23, 2025, indicating that Chad is seriously aiming to be accepted into the AES.
The AES was formed by three nations, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger as a collaborative effort towards growth and development plans I’m their respective countries.
The formation of this group became necessary after their withdrawal from ECOWAS in 2024.
They three countries are focusing on mutual defense, economic cooperation, and counterterrorism efforts.

Chad’s application is seen as a move to strengthen ties with these military-led governments.
However, there is no confirmed information on the acceptance of Chad’s application as of the latest updates.
