21-year-old Tiktoker sentenced 2 years Imprisonment for Insulting Uganda’s President

A young Ugandan man aged 21, has been sentenced to jail after disrespecting the President of Uganda on social media.

The man named Emmanuel Nabugodi is a TikToker and had reportedly insulted President Yoweri Museveni through a video shared on TikTok.

Nabugodi who is noted for posting comic content on his account that has over 20,000 followers, was found to have made a video of a mock trial of the president urging authorities to punish Museveni.

During a court hearing, Emmanuel Nabugodi was found guilty of 4 charges including hate speech and propagating malicious information about Yoweri Museveni.

The court sentenced Emmanuel Nabugodi to 32 months in prison after pleading guilty to the crimes.
