A coalition of 18 state attorneys generals in the United States have has filed a lawsuit against President Trump barely 24 hours after being sworn into office.
The legal suit is aimed at challenging President Donald Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship in the country through an executive order.

The US president have vowed to put an end to birthright citizenship and already have an executive order in place to achieve that.
He now has a tough decision to make over it and should he succeed in doing that, he needs to convince 18 state attorneys that it is a legal move.

The lawsuit, filed by the 18 attorneys was presented on Tuesday in a Massachusetts federal court and it’s content rgues that the policy to cancel birthright citizenship violates the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees citizenship to all children born on American soil.
The lawsuit is currently co-led by New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin who argued that Trump’s executive order is an unconstitutional overreach of presidential authority.

The lawsuit therefore seeks to block the
implementation of the policy before it takes effect.
