An 11-year-old schoolgirl from Texas committed suicide after bullies threatened to report her parents to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents for deportation.

After months of bullying from her sixth-grade classmates, many of whom targeted her because of her family’s immigration status even threatening to report them to the U.S.
According to media reports, her classmates told her that she would then be all by herself in the country when her family would be deported.

There is, however, no indication that the Carranza family was in the U.S. illegally.
On February 3, Marbella Carranza, a single mother from Gainesville, received a call, telling her that her daughter, aged 11 years, was in the process of trying to commit suicide at their home.

The girl was taken to an intensive care unit in Dallas, fighting for her life but sadly passed away on February 8, according to a GoFundMe page.
The school knew about all the bullying, how Jocelynn Rojo Carranza had classmates crying her out about being left alone in the United States once her parents were deported.
It became severe enough for her to be seen by a school counselor three to four times a week, but family members were not informed.
Marbella Carranza learned about her daughter’s bullying after her death and is now working with investigators and school officials as to what led to the event and why the family never received information about it.
