The devastation wrought by wildfires in California is not a recent phenomenon; however, what frequently goes unnoticed is the tendency of disaster relief and media coverage to favor certain communities over others.
Rapper The Game has expressed his discontent regarding this selective concern, criticizing former President Donald Trump for visiting only the affluent Pacific Palisades neighbourhood while neglecting the wildfire-affected community of Altadena.

In an Instagram video posted on Wednesday, January 29, The Game stood amidst the charred remnants of a family home in Altadena, directly addressing the inequity in the attention received.
“Most of the big media outlets, the president… I think President Trump went over to the affected areas of Pacific Palisades, but he didn’t make his way to Altadena,” he stated.

He underscored the stark contrast in response, emphasizing that communities such as Altadena which do not possess the same wealth or celebrity presence as Pacific Palisades are often overlooked during times of crisis.
Though The Game refrained from directly telling Trump what to do, he made his stance clear: “I’m not telling President Trump what he has to do or what he should do or nothing like that, but let’s not forget about Altadena.”
