Another popular social media site is being shut down in the US alongside TikTok, .
For individuals who are not aware of the developments a law that was passed last year mandated that ByteDance the Chinese parent company of TikTok sell off its stake by January 19 2025.
Apps that don’t comply will be taken down from the App Store.
Due to ByteDance’s refusal to sell TikTok, the ban is being enforced.

The message on the app’s landing page reads: “Sorry, CapCut isn’t available right now. A new law banning CapCut has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use CapCut for now. Rest assured, we’re working to restore our service in the U.S. Please stay tuned! In the meantime, you can still manage your account data.”

According to WorldStar on Instagram, CapCut shared a public memo to users of the app and it reads;
“Important update from CapCut
We regret that a U.S. law banning CapCut will take effect on January 19 and force us to make our service temporarily unavailable.
We’re working to restore our service in the U.S. as soon as possible, and we appreciate your support. Please stay tuned.”
Reacting to this unpleasant news, one Kevin Diaz Official on Instagram wrote; “We’re slowly losing our freedom and people don’t realize it”
Another one g2Rizo wrote “Anybody know a good editing app like capcut? If free even better just saying”
Island_bxy wrote; “Politicians were quick to use TikTok to boost their campaign but they don’t wanna talk bout that”
