An Embraer passenger jet flying from Azerbaijan to Russia crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.
According to local officials, the passenger plane carrying roughly 70 people crashed in Kazakhstan killing dozens of people.
According to authorities in Azerbaijan, the country where the flight originated at least 30 people survived.

Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev of Kazakhstan stated that 29 survivors including two children were rescued from the wreckage in a massive rescue effort with 11 of them in critical condition.
The moment stunned survivors came out of the burned-out aircraft was caught on camera at the scene of the crash.
Kazakh authorities previously stated that all of the survivors had been transported to hospitals.
The deputy prime minister stated that none of the survivors were Kazakh citizens.
Approximately 3 kilometers (1. 08 miles) from Aktau Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 made an emergency landing while en route from Baku the capital of Azerbaijan to Grozny in the Russian region of Chechnya according to the airline.
