A pivotal JAMA Surgery study has come out with their findings on young surgeons and video games.

Per their study they found out that surgeons who play video games have the potential to enhance their performance in certain types of surgery.

They conducted the study on 33 surgeons at Beth Israel Medical Center and discovered that those who played video games for at least three hours per week made 37% fewer errors during surgery.

They also discovered that such surgeons worked 27% faster, and scored 42% higher on a surgical skills test compared to those who did not play video games.

From these findings, they concluded that playing video games “could improve skills such as hand-eye coordination and depth perception–abilities crucial for surgeries like laparoscopy.”
