One of the sons of Equatorial Guinea’s President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, has been convicted of selling state property and corruption.
Ruslan Obiang Nsue was convicted by a court in Equatorial Guinea for illegally selling a plane belonging to the national airline.

Ruslan Obiang Nsue, former Minister of Sports as well as CEO of CEIBA, has been sentenced to a 6-year prison term.
He was arrested in January 2023 following his confession of the facts before a commission led by the his half brother, Vice-President Nguema Obiang.

Teodoro consequently ordered for Ruslan’s arrest. He was accused of illegally selling an aircraft belonging to the national airline Ceiba Intercontinental, which had disappeared in November 2022.
He allegedly sold an ATR 72-500 aircraft owned by the national airline to a Spanish company, Binter Technic, and kept the proceeds.

Ruslan is believed to have leveraged his position as the former director of Ceiba Intercontinental and plotted the plan without notice.
The court ruled that Ruslan faces six-year prison sentence unless he repays approximately $255,000 to the airline, along with additional damages and a state fine.
