Mahama’s government set up a Children Support Fund for the children of those involved in August 8 tragedy with an initial deposit of GH¢500,000 already made

Ghana organized a State Funeral for 8 individuals who lost their lives in a helicopter crash while on an official duty for the nation.

During the ceremony, the President of the state addressed those at the event while commending the brave national heroes who had lost their lives.

In a move to ensure the sustainability of the children left behind by these individuals, President John Dramani Mahama has launched the “Children Support Fund.”

“The Children Support Fund will cover education, healthcare, shelter, and welfare support through tertiary or technical education and beyond,” the President of the Republic announced.

“My office will ensure that the Children’s Support Fund is sustained for the long term with annual public reporting on how it has been used,” Mahama said in his address.

The President also told the press that they will create channels of contributions so other parties and individuals can contribute to the fund.

The Children’s Support Fund has already been initialized with Stanbic Bank making an initial contribution of GH¢500,000.

The President revealed that Government will also be making an immediate seed contribution to the fund.

He also promised to publish a detailed framework of the Children Support Fund for the public within the next 30 days.
