The state funeral for the fallen heroes of Ghana came on at the Black Star Square on Friday, August 15. The event was attended by several dignitaries in the state as the mourn the loss of the heroes who lost their lives while on national duty.
During the ceremony, the president gave a posthumous promotion to the three officers who were involved in the accident.

The President of the state hinted that although promotions are never given lightly in the armed forces, posthumous promotions are the highest mark of respect for duty performed even unto death.
“Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala is promoted to the rank of a Wing Commander. Flying officer Manaen Twum Ampadu is promoted to the rank of Flight Lieutenant.”

“Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah is promoted to the rank of Flight Sergeant,” the President stated during his address at the memorial.
Mahama emphasized that these promotions are not just symbolic gestures but they represent the rightful places the officers have earned in the republic.
He also promised that the benefits due to the families of the officers will be reflected in the new ranks.

Other colleagues who were civilians were not left out. The President pledged that they will be posthumously recognized at the next national honors ceremony.
