Trump urges Israel not to attack Iran, after a ceasefire with Tehran came into effect

U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Israel to refrain from launching airstrikes on Iran, following the recent entry into effect of a fragile ceasefire between Tehran and Washington.

The plea came via a post on Trump’s Truth Social, where he warned that any Israeli action would constitute a “major violation” and urged the immediate return of Israeli pilots.

In his post, Trump wrote, “ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.”

This warning follows in the heels of Trump’s recent announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel.

Trump took to his X and Truth Social pages on Monday to announce that he brokered an agreement between the two warring heads.

The ceasefire aims to de-escalate the conflict that intensified following Israel’s strikes on Iranian targets on June 13 and the subsequent U.S. military response on June 21.
