Kenyans refuse to give way to a government official who was passing on the wrong side of the road

Most African leaders and government officials have developed the habit of using roads as they see fit without regard for traffic, pedestrians or other drivers.

In a powerful display of civil resistance, Kenyan citizens recently blocked a government official’s vehicle from using the wrong side of the road.

In an attempt to bypass traffic, the government official decided to drive towards oncoming traffic, expecting drivers to sideline their vehicles for him/her to pass.

However, pedestrians by the roadside decided not to budge as they attempted to block the road. Others were also directing cars and drivers to drive in the lane as they were in the right one.

The viral video highlights a growing intolerance for official impunity and abuse of power. Kenyans are seeking systematic change and this is one way to go.
