Pope Leo XIV is advocating for peace and had called for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing war surrounding Gaza.
The newly elected Pope also pleaded with leaders to release all hostages, and the provision of humanitarian aid to the civilian population.

In May 2025, while speaking to a large audience of St. Peter’s Basilica, he expressed deep pain over the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
“I am deeply saddened by what is happening in the Gaza Strip. May a ceasefire immediately come into effect. May humanitarian aid be allowed into the civilian population and may all hostages be freed.” he stated
The Pope is emphasizing the suffering of families and children who found themselves victims in the sad war.
He urged world leaders to respect humanitarian law and facilitate aid for the victims.

Things are currently intensified in the ongoing war surrounding Gaza with Israeli military operations following an alleged restricted aid flows.
Gaza’s health ministry reported that over 53,500 Palestinian deaths since October 2023 and this is a major concern.
