Teenager arrested for detonating an explosive at the house of a girl who rejected him

A 17-year-old is in custody after authorities say he broke into a Michigan home and detonated an explosive after a girl rejected his romantic advances.

The shocking incident occurred around 3 a.m. on April 10 in Mount Clemens, prompting an entire family to flee for their lives.

According to WXYZ Detroit, the teenager had been communicating with a girl who lived in the house.

When she declined his request for a date, he allegedly broke into the home later that night and set off an explosive.

Fortunately, no one was injured, but the rental home incurred significant damage from the resulting fire.

Delvon Lee, one of the residents present during the incident, described the terrifying moment his family was jolted awake.

Lee, his 9-month-old son, his son’s mother, grandmother, cousin, and another 9-month-old baby managed to escape by climbing over a backyard fence.

Just five days after the fire, law enforcement tracked down and arrested the teenager.

Authorities confirmed that he is facing multiple charges related to arson and property destruction.

Prosecutors are reportedly considering charging him as an adult.
