The wife of the police officer who was crying at her husband’s funeral hours before her arrest. The police arrested her for allegedly hiring hitmen to kill her husband.

The arrest follows after the police apprehended a suspect. A man identified as Nhlizitozabantu Magwanyana was arrested at the Kwa-Thema Hotel. He confessed to killing the officer.
The man also admitted to being paid by the wife for the operation and that the final payment was received immediately after he was confirmed dead.
Constable Banele Sikhosana was an officer of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD). Banele was fatally shot on February 7,2025 while he was opening his shop in Rest in Kwa-Thema, Ekurhuleni. The killers also stole his pistol.

At the moment, one more suspect is still on the ran. Investigations in the case has also revealed this is not the first attempt on Banele’s wife. His wife had allegedly tried to poison him ago before he was murdered. He was on sick leave recovering from the attempted poisoning when he met his untimely demise.
