The world’s first openly gay imam, Muhshin Hendricks has been killed in South Africa. Muhshin was shot in South Africa on Saturday, February 15. He was a staunch member of the LGBTQ+ community for Muslims.
Hendricks was attacked in Cape Town. On Saturday morning while he was traveling near Gqaberha, Muhshin was ambushed and shot.
According to police report, two people were involved in his killing. “Two unknown suspects with covered faces got out of fge vehicle and started firing multiple shits at the vehicle.”

Mushin led a mosque in Cape Town as a hide out for Muslims who were stigmatized for being part of the LGBTQ+community. His death comes as shock to the LGBTQ + community. He had recently officiated a lesbian wedding.
Several people on social media over the internet have poured their hearts out at the murder of imam calling it a “hate crime”.
